Joshua Silver

My name is Joshua Silver and I’m from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Ever since I was little, I knew I wanted to work on problems that impacted people around the world. After graduating from the University of Chicago in 2016 with a B.A. in Near Eastern Languages & Civilizations with a focus on the modern Middle East, I worked on the Hillary campaign with the hope that the next US president would be mindful of international collaboration and environmental sustainability. Following the campaign, I interned on the Hill for Senator Casey before becoming a teacher at Lowell School in D.C. At Lowell, I taught middle school social studies and developed a new curriculum that took students through history analyzing humanity’s relationship with the environment. After four years of teaching, I’m excited to attend Georgetown’s Environmental Metrology and Policy program and attain a Master of Science. I can’t wait to put the interdisciplinary skills that I’ll gain to use, ensuring that people live sustainably and with dignity on our one and only planet.
