Dakota DeLong-Maxey

My name is Morgan Dakota DeLong-Maxey, but I go by my middle name, Dakota! I am from Buckingham, Virginia (which actually contains the geographic center of the state). Before enrolling in the EMAP program, I attended The University of Virginia for my Bachelor’s degree, double majoring in Global Sustainability and Biology.

While growing up, I lived in the rural countryside, on a farm, which did not afford me with a lot of outside opportunity, but it did give me a deep love of nature and the environment. My undergraduate career expanded my opportunities and impressed on me the value of an interdisciplinary education that aids in bridging the gap between scientific research and the implementation and regulation of this knowledge. I applied to the EMAP program because I believe that it will help me become an effective advocate for the environment, allowing me to build on my past experience and provide me with the tools I need to do so.
