Georgetown University Faculty

Steven Metallo, Ph.D.
Dr. Steve Metallo is an Associate Professor of biochemistry in the Department of Chemistry. The research in his group is decidedly interdisciplinary, involving aspects of chemical biology, biophysical chemistry, and surface chemistry. The three specific areas in which we work are: small molecule binders of intrinsically disordered proteins, macromolecular crowding effects focused on nucleic acids and protein-nucleic acid interactions, and engineering of protein-surface interactions.

Sarah Stoll, Ph.D
Dr. Sarah Stoll is a Professor of Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry. Research in the her lab has focused on the synthesis and study of magnetic nanoparticles. Magnetic nanoparticles are of interest for electronics applications (data storage), biological systems (particularly for separations and MRI), as well as fundamental questions about magnetism on the nanometer length scale. Many of our projects involve the synthesis of novel magnetic nanoparticles or the incorporation of magnetic clusters and nanoparticles in larger superstructures. We are also interested in developing systems with novel magneto-optical, luminescence, non-linear optical properties

YuYe J. Tong, Ph.D., Program Director
Dr. YuYe Tong is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry and the Program Director of Environmental Metrology & Policy. He is an expert in Analytical Chemistry, Physical Electrochemistry, in situ Spectroelectrochemistry, the synthesis of metal-based nanomaterials, and fuel-cell related electrocatalysis and clean energy science
