Maya Cohn
My name is Maya Cohn, and I’m a DC-area local. Born in Washington DC, I moved to the Bay Area as a baby and lived there until I was 13, when my family moved back to the DC suburbs. After receiving my bachelor’s degree from Skidmore College in Environmental Studies with a focus on environmental policy, I returned to DC to work on Capitol Hill, where I have been for five years. Currently, I work on the environment, energy, and agriculture portfolio for Senator Leahy of Vermont.
My work in the environmental policy arena has sparked my desire to understand the more quantitative mechanisms of how environmental contamination happens and how to mitigate and remediate it. This brought me to Georgetown’s unique EMAP program, where I am looking forward to a comprehensive education in both science and policy. I will be graduating in 2024.
